Cougar Education Board Auditor Needed
The John Baldwin Cougar Education Board¹s Auditor Chair has come open.  We are in need of an auditor for the 2011/12 school year. The position does not require a lot of time, but provides a valuable service to the running of the CEF. If interested, please contact Linda Dalenberg at cef.jbes@yahoo.com.
 

Fundraisers

  • Box Tops for Education: Bring qualifying box tops to the office.
  • Kash for Kids Recycling Program: Recycle used printer cartridges and electronic items, including PDas, iPods, cell phones, video games, digital cameras, laptops, video game consoles, and DVD movies. Turn items in to the school office. Contact: Brenda Akey at 964-0534.

Before/After School Clubs:

  • Environmental Club: Open to all students in grades 3-5 interesting in helping the environment at John Baldwin and beyond. The Environmental Club meets every other Thursday at 7:45 am in room 603. Sign up in the office.
  • Breakfast Book Club: The Book Club meets one Wednesday each month, October through May, from 7:45-8:30 am, in the MPR. $60/year includes 6 age appropriate books to read with parents at home and discuss at school, continental breakfast, and a monthly online newsletter featuring their book reviews. Photos are needed for the yearbook, from your classroom, field trips, 5th grade camp, Halloween, etc. To submit to the online yearbook website see the 11/2/11 Cougar Weekly. When logging in, password should not be capitalized.

Baldwin Goes Green
See the 11/2/11Cougar Weekly for some excellent tips for a waste free lunch. Parents can help reduce waste at John Baldwin be reducing the amount of packaging and food waste that goes into the trash from lunches.

School Pick Up/Drop Off
Procedures are detailed in the 8/31/11 Cougar Weekly. Please review the procedures to ensure a safe drop off/pick for all of our students.

Kids Country Parking Lot
The parking lot at Kid's Country is only for the use of Kid's Country parents when dropping off or picking up their child(ren) from the program. If your child does not attend Kids’ Country, please go to the front of the school to pick-up or drop off your child. Thank you for your cooperation! Students should walk on the west side of the school to and from Kids’ Country and not walk through the parking lot. If your child is enrolled in Kids’ Country, please review this route with them.

Avoid a Parking Ticket
Remember that the curb to the east side of Brookside between Timerline Place and Brookside Court is a "No Parking Zone" between the hours of 7:00-8:30 am and 2:00-3:30 pm. Cars parked in thie area during these times will be ticketed.

Community Events

New!"Adolescent Subcultures and Current Drug Trends"
Presentation hosted by the Danville Police Dept, presented by Orange County Sheriffs. This multimedia presentation depicts at risk trends in today's schools. Parent night is March 7, 7:00-9:00 pm at Charlotte Wood Middle School. For more information contact Kerry Sloss, Danville Police Dept. Young Storytellers - The Basics:
This 8-week program develops writers, their stories and their imagination. Classes at the Danville Community Center, January 23-March 19. For ages 6-9 years old. Spring Football in the San Ramon Valley:
East Bay Youth Sports is offering 2 spring football programs:

  • Ultimate Tackle football program: 8-man, on grass, full pads, modified rules. For ages 6-14.
  • NFL Flag Football: 5-on-5, for boys and girls ages 5-12.

Youth Basketball Program:
Beginning January 8, 2012 at Iron Horse Middle School Beginning and Advanced level taught. For boys and girls ages 5-14 years old. Sundays 4:00-6:00 pm. For more information call 364-4447.

Future Stars Winter Soccer Academy
For children who want to play soccer during the winter months. Eligible children are born between Aug 1, 2003 and July 31, 2006 (U6, U7, and U8). Practices will be at Dougherty Valley High school, games will be held in San Ramon and/or Dublin. Cost is $275 plus $90 for a uniform (for new players).
