Who is John Baldwin?

John Baldwin Elementary School is named for the distinguished Northern Californian, John Finley Baldwin, Jr., a six-time member of the House of Representatives-R. He was born in Oakland, Calif. June 28, 1915, and graduated from San Ramon Valley Union High School in Danville. He attended the University of California at Berkeley (UCB) in 1935, and graduated with a bachelor of arts degree in accounting and finance. John Baldwin served in World War II and was discharged as a lieutenant colonel in October 1946. He returned to his native San Francisco Bay Area to attend UCB once again, this time receiving a law degree from Boalt Hall School of Law in 1949. He served in the House of Representatives from 1955 until his death in 1966.
