The Flat Stanley Project is very simple. Students make a paper Flat Stanley and mail it, along with a blank journal, to a friend or relative that lives out of state, and is willing to participate in the project. The recipient treats the visiting Stanley as a guest and takes it to various places that they find interesting. After a few weeks Stanley is mailed back with a completed journal and perhaps some photographs. The student then shares their Stanley with the class, describing where it has been, the adventures it has had, and then plots it on a map. This project is designed after the book Flat Stanley by Jeff Brown.
Please remember to have your child practice their math facts. The students are expected to master the math facts in 2 minutes. If your child is bringing home timed tests in which they have NOT mastered all of the facts in 2 minutes they REALLY need to practice at home to increase their speed. Please practice using some of the online links I have posted, using the practice sheets I have attached to current assignments, or using good, old fashioned flash cards, but PLEASE practice!!
