WELCOME THIRD GRADERS!

Welcome to room 508 and welcome to third grade. This year, Mrs. Swanson will teach Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday. Mrs. Cheney will teach Thursday and Friday. This is a great year to learn something new!  We are going to build a class community that accepts everyone and acknowledges kindness, determination, and respect.  Third grade is an exciting year full of new discoveries about the world and about ourselves.  We learn about Danville history- from prehistoric times, native American life, missions, and farming.  Did you know our valley used to be full of ranches that raised pears, walnuts, and other crops? We will also learn about reading more difficult books and keeping track of our thinking as we read.  In math, we will jump right in with multiplication and division concepts.  We are going to have a great year working and growing together.

Reading in Third Grade

Remember "just right books"?  Our library is full of fiction and non- fiction books to match your interests.  It is so fun to read when you find a book that you are interested in and that isn't too easy or too hard.  When all those elements come together, reading is an adventure where you can meet talking animals, mysterious characters, funny people and places. If you have a favorite book, please share it with the class and inspire others to read what you love!
