Mission and Goals

What is Cougar Education Fund?

The Cougar Education Fund (CEF), an affiliate of the San Ramon Valley Education Foundation (SRVEF), is a non-profit organization dedicated to raising funds to maintain and enhance the academic excellence at John Baldwin Elementary School.

Founded in 1999, CEF is comprised of parent volunteers, our school principal, a staff/faculty representative, a PTA liaison and one teacher liaison. CEF is dedicated to generating money through tax-deductible contributions to pay for programs, technology needs, and the salaries of faculty and staff our parent community and school administration believe are important to the education of our children, but are not paid for by our school district.

The Cougar Education Fund’s budgeting process involves gathering valuable insight and feedback from parents, our school’s Site Council, Teachers, and Administration regarding positions and programs that most benefit our children's educational experience at Baldwin through surveys, and attendance to monthly CEF meetings throughout the year.

The positions and programs funded by CEF include*:

  • Art Teacher for grades TK-5
  • Music Teacher for grades TK-3. The school district funds music for grades 4-5.
  • P.E. Instructional Aide for grades 1-5
  • Librarian and Library Classes for grades TK-5
  • Classroom Paraprofessional for grades TK-1
  • Lunch/Playground Supervision for grades 1-5
  • Campus Supervisor
  • Reading Specialist and Literacy Paraprofessionals for grades TK-5
  • Math Paraprofessionals for grades TK-5
  • iPads for grade 3 at 1:2. Grades TK-2 share one class set per grade.
  • Chromebooks for grades 4-5 at 1:1
