John Baldwin Elementary School

PTA Events 2019-2020 (draft- more info is on it's way!)

*August 12, 4:00-7:00pm   Back to Baldwin!

This is a family event.  Bring a picnic dinner and come see friends, meet your new teacher, order spirit wear, enjoy a frozen treat, go on a scavenger hunt, gather information about after school activities, and learn about volunteer opportunities.

4:00-5:00 is for TK and Kinder families;

5:00-7:00 is for 1st through 5th families.

*August 15, 8:00-9:30am   Welcome Back Coffee

This is a social event for parents and guardians to come together to see old friends and meet new ones.  PTA and CEF board members will be on hand to answer questions about our wonderful school.  Younger siblings are welcome.

*August 28, 8:20-9:30am   TK/Kinder and New Families Coffee

Similar to the Welcome Back Coffee, but just for our TK/K and newer families.  This is the time to meet other Baldwin parents and to ask questions after school has been in session for a couple weeks.  Younger siblings are welcome.

*September 6, 6:30-8:30pm   Aloha Family Dance

Bring the whole family to our Hawaiian themed event!  Tickets will be available for purchase at jb.futurefund.com and at the door.  We'll have music, some dancing games, and a whole lot of fun.  Baldwin Baker treats will be available for purchase.

*September 23-27   Book Fair and Book Drive

Proceeds from book sales will go directly to the library, teachers and staff to help pay for new books and classroom supplies.  We also collect used books to give to Cesar Chavez Elementary, our Sister School in Richmond.

*September 25, 6:00-6:50 and 7:00-7:50pm   Science Night

New this year!  All families are invited to this free event.  About a dozen hands-on science stations will be provided by the Lawrence Hall of Science and monitored by parent volunteers.

*October 25, 5:30-7:30pm   Trunk or Treat

New this year!  This is a FREE family event.  Parent volunteers will decorate their trucks and have activities and treats or prizes for the truck-or-treaters.  We'll also have a cake walk, pumpkin carving contest, face painting, crafts, food trucks, and more.  Kids (and adults!) are encouraged to come in costume.

*December 6   Movie Night

This is a Baldwin student only event.  Parents drop the kids off at the MPR and go on their merry way.  The kids enjoy an evening of pizza, popcorn, and movie watching with their friends.  Supervision is provided by parent volunteers.

*December 14, 9:00-11:00am   Holiday Kids Shop

This longstanding Baldwin tradition is one of our favorites.  Prior to the event, PTA purchases items and collects gift donations for the shop.  At the event, students shop (assisted by middle school helpers) for gifts for their family and friends and get them gift wrapped.  While kids are secretly shopping, parents can purchase items from the bake sale, enjoy a coffee, and buy tickets for raffle gifts.

Tips for parents: prior to the event, make a list of who your child will be shopping for and discuss their budget.  At the event, bring cash in an envelope labeled with your child's name (checks made out to Baldwin PTA are also accepted).
